FAQ

Do You Accept Insurance?

I do not currently participate in any insurance plans. However, you may inquire with your insurance company if you have 'out-of-network' benefits. If you do, you may be eligible for reimbursement for part, or all, of the session fee. Be sure to inquire if you have a deductible. I will provide you with an invoice detailing the type of service and your diagnosis and you will be responsible for filing your own claims.

What Is Your Evaluation Process?

That depends on the purpose of the evaluation. In general, the process begins with an initial consultation which is between 1 and 3 sessions (1-1.5 hours at a time). The initial consultation is a chance for us to get to know each other and for me to gather more information about you or your child so I can figure out the best way to help you. For children, this almost always involves my speaking with the pediatrician and/or teacher/school counselor (with parental consent, of course). Once the initial evaluation is completed, I will offer you a preliminary diagnosis and treatment plan. Sometimes this plan involves outside referrals (including neuropsychological testing for children). Please be aware that the initial consultation is not a commitment on your part or mine to enter into a treatment relationship. This agreement is made once the diagnosis and treatment plan are agreed upon.

Do You Do 'Second Opinion' Consultations?

Yes.

What Types Of Treatment Do You Offer?

I offer both medication management and psychotherapy. For individuals who already have a therapist (or are not in need of therapy) I can do medication management only. I am trained in various types of psychotherapy including supportive, insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral and others. As part of the initial consultation we will work together to determine the best treatment approach for you/your child.

What Are Your Fees?

Fees for evaluations vary depending on the type of evaluation required. Questions about evaluation fees can be discussed by phone prior to the first session. Subsequent 45 minute treatment visits are $425 for an adult and $450 for a child. In select cases, medication management sessions for adults may be 30 minutes for $400. Zelle, credit cards or checks are accepted. Payment is due at time of service. There is no charge for cancellations up to 48 hours before an appointment. After that point, a session charge is incurred.

Do you offer Telepsychiatry?

Yes, I offer telepsychiatry in select cases after an in-person consultation. Telepsychiatry is available to residents of NYS only. Not all patients are appropriate for this modality and determination of suitability is based on ongoing assessment and subject to change. I use a HIPAA compliant video conferencing system that is free and easy to use. An internet connection and a private area to speak are the only requirements. Many commercial insurance plans now cover telepsychiatry and prospective patients are encouraged to inquire about this benefit if they plan to submit for reimbursement. Please be aware that phone sessions are rarely reimbursed.
